"I sent your eye charts in to confirm the numbers, and the head surgeon did some additional calculations. One of the numbers he calculated puts you from the low risk category to the...ineligible category, as it looks like you have the starting stages of Keratoconus. It's borderline and only one number has any indication of it, but it's enough of a concern that I don't feel comfortable performing this procedure.
"You don't have any other signs of Keratoconus, and it was such a small indicator that we only really found out about this last night (I'm sorry I have to tell you about this today, right before surgery). But just to be safe we'd like you to wait until we can be sure that Keratoconus isn't going to develop."
How long should I wait?
"We can be sure about the development of Keratoconus at around 30 years old."

So I didn't get LASIK. What a pity, I was really looking forward to it.
My brother, by the way, does have Keratoconus. So there is a distinct possibility.
All well, I'll keep wearing glasses for a while longer. It's only really an issue when I swim or watch 3D movies, neither of which I do often, and I can lean close to the mirror when I'm putting on eye makeup. Meh.
On the super-duper plus side, I'm suddenly a fair-hair richer than I was planning to be two hours ago. I'll be putting that aside and save for something awesome, like a vacation trip to Japan or a car or something.

oh, I'm so sorry! I thought of you this morning and said a little prayer that things would go well. I guess they didn't go at all.
You can always use the money to buy a car and take a road trip out here!
Sorry to hear it didn't work out. I hope you have so much fun with the money that you don't even mind anymore. I think you should use the money to take over the world!
Aww to no Lasik, but yay to Japan and/or a car!!! :D
That Kaetous (sp?) thing sounds nasty. I hope you can avoid it.
Another Japan trip? :P
